News #1

Summer vacation is just around the corner and, as I said in my anouncement video @ youtube, I'll be working on the following for the time being:
  • Vampire Diaries video: Damon x Elena
  • Semi-vent / Depressing Anime Mix video
  • TIW Megamix Auditions
I changed the blog a bit, but I might change it again, until I find something functional I'm good with, because I don't have time to do any photoshopping.
I've been hangin' around on my tumblr and I got a twitter account in the mean time, check the links on the new connections tab.

See ya soon (:

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika - And you thought plushies were adorable!

So the newest magical girl anime ended. It was a good anime, with a perfect ending and a mindfucking plushie. I really reccomend it, the whole story is amazing, not your average cute-and-pink girly anime and the graphics are unique (: . If you're like me, you'll definitly get into the story and 'suffer' for the characters or just want to kill others!
My last impression of the anime is:
[22-04-2011 23:32:56] Alicia: and yet again god is a girl
Yup. That's it :)

Related to this, is my newest amv, participated in a contest on a convention last week - won nothing but whatever:

I reaaally should update more often, but I'm always busy somehow! Unbelivable.

Other than this, Ao no Exorcist is definitly a new obcession. Over and out!

Maria Holic Madness

Freshly finished anime. I never thought I'd enjoy it this much since I'm kind of biased against shoujo-ai, but the hilariousness of this iss off-the-charts. Truth be told, I'm really fond of cross-dressing/genderbending themes. Specially since most of said anime/mangas fall into comedy genre ahah.
The fact that Kanako Miyamae is a (very dumb) shameless yuri-pig/pervert just makes the whole thing even more funny. Mariya Shidou's personality is genious as well, he's really a manipulative bastard (this is the harsh truth) - I like this kind of character the most! Then there's expressionless but foul mouthed Matsurika Shinouji that just adds up to the troubles of poor Kanako. The secondary characters were enjoyable, but they just fitted the stereotypical girl types for Kanako to fangirl about, so there's nothing big there.
Can't wait for the second season! - As the first one ended up in a mockery ending - they were seriously just laughing in your face with that ending, though it fitted the mood of the show.

I love the OP and the ED too. And I reaaaaaally want to edit a comedy/horror amv with this show - seeing as my favourite amv is with Maria*Holic I'll really have to work hard as not to fail my own expectations ahah.

Incidentaly, the mangaka that came up with this comedy is also the mangaka for one of my all time favourites: Dazzle / Hatenkou Yugi !

Perfect Blue

Today I watched this movie on reccomendation from someone. I found it quite enjoyable and it's a good thriller even though I'm not easily scared by this kind movies.
The reason why I decided watching this was because the person who reccomended it told me is was similar to Black Swan, as in the later was inspired by this. I never watched Black Swan - though I want to - but from what I seen in the trailer this movie really gets close to it.
It's a good watch for a dull afternoon in the least.

Hetalia - My (not-so-)new obcession

I've aaaaalways had a lingering obcession with Axis Power Hetalia, and lately more so. Funny how it all started because I decided to read a fan-fiction a friend of mine read and posted tiny bits of on tumblr. It was a Prussia/Canada fiction and I never thought I'd like them so much, specially the way that writer writes them - I've been reading all of her fictions non-stop, me not being a multi-chapter-fic enthusiast, I find myself happy that her fictions have more than 10 chapters.
So the last few days I've been reading (and spamming my friends with) those fics. Also it kind of annoys me that almost every Prussia/Canada fiction or picture has some kind of France/England to it, but I'll live.

And I can't waaaait to get money and order the 2nd volume of Hetalia manga, I'll need it to survive through my History of Psychology Ideas class.

On another note, I finally watched Devil May Cry, through and through - thanks to a friend of mine making me watch it - and I have to say, I like it. And by it I mean Dante ahahah. She's going to make me play the games, lets see how that works out for me, your resident game n00b.

If by any chance I have portuguese stalkers

stalkers.
Ahem, So as much as I love ranting about my fandoms I, sometimes, need to rant about my own life, and in portuguese too. So here we go: Strawberry Swirl , And for a minute it didn't became Strawberry Sundae (DMC references are ftw, eh?)
That's all for now, uni started and things are going to get busy :)

Yet another CLAMP post

In the last 2 days I took the time to read this 23 + 3 extras chapters manga by, well of course, CLAMP. I was really expecting the whole envoirement and cuteness that's so characteristic of CLAMP in some situations. The no-real-touch-happens kind of thing was also on my mind, since I did tell my friend that I was expecting it to be that way, what many call "soul relationship". The plot was kind of silly and not very deep until of course the last chapter. But that aaaaaaaaalways happens, even if this was from the '90s, I know CLAMP love a good twist in their stories. The ending was oh so adorable and so-sweet-it'll-give-you-diabetes (I just read that expression and I had to use it ahah).

However, I was almost giving up on finding the right last chapter! Mangafox only has the first extra, Animea had the correct one but it was all messed up and out of order. Only after a bit of googling did I find a torrent that luckily was alive and came packed with a copy of the above video (don't you love it when your favourite books/mangas get animated/turned into films ?) - the song of the video is kind of disturbing, but well, that's the kind of manga it is and it fits.

I really like all the characters on this. Though they were 80% fem!men - no kidding. And it upsetted me to no end that the earlier chapters treat Kohaku as a girl - he looks like one, but he's a "male" angel (since angel's are supposed to be genderless I can't really say he's a male, but he is, okay? ahah). My favourite ones were probably Hisui and Kokyou - they look like a happily married couple, it's so cute (a bit sickening if they appear too much though).

All in all, a light read, good for killing boredom. And something to probably read if you're into CLAMP (and specifically Kobato - from what I've hear).
Now I'm ready for Kobato ! MyAnimeList.net says that Kobato is sort of an adaptation of Wish, so there you have it people (and my friend says there's a Kohaku in Kobato)!

...Sometimes I wonder if I should add "CLAMP-ranting" to blog description.

Why I never read "real" books

I really like stories and reading, I do, I do. But when I get to 3/4's of the book I start slowing down and eventually stop reading all together before I finish it. Why? Well there ARE a couple of reasons:
1) I'll get to know the ending, I can't change it
2) I'll run out of story and miss the characters
But even so, of course I read the whole book, no matter what (unless I really don't like it).
And yesterday I decided to finish reading the first book of "The IdhĂșn's Memories" saga. I started it back in January, after the exams, but then with all that lets-get-this-birthday-presents-done stress, I dropped it for a while, only 5 chapters missing. But I got back to it and read them yesterday.
All I can say is: I'M SO FURIOUS AND SAD. This is a goddamn saga so why does all I never wanted to happen, happen in this FIRST book? I'm seriously dumbfounded and I cried all the way through the last 2 chapters or so.
It's really infuriating. I have to read the rest to calm my anger. Probably that won't work, but I need to know what happens!

Who would've thought I'd like this kind of book so much eh? (It has dragons, and Unicorns and wizards, sorcerers, and weird humanoid species, and a different world, and all of that - basically the type of book I wouldn't read unless reccomended by someone).

And this, kids, is why I should stick to manga/anime, at least I'm used to cry over that.

Youtube and Copyright - a tale of horror and blood splatter

Such a fitting title. It's really frustrating that I and everybody else work our asses off to make a pretty video and then youtube and it's copyright policy come in to stab us on the back and take our videos down!
But now I've learnt for good, nevermore shall I write the footage name on the description! I never knew that xxxHOLiC was copyrighted though.
The problem of not writing is that some viewers are dumb enough to not notice that I write the music and footage in the beginning or ending of the video - that's just disrespectful from them e_e.

But all in all, I just don't want to have my account taken down, it's my fourth so far and I'm glad with it, I don't really want to move to my backup.

Either way, I did this...thing here:

I'm not really thrilled about the result, but I'm not complaining anymore, except: DAMNED PANDORA HEARTS PART *shakes fist*

Finally got to read a translation for last chapter of xxxHOLIC

I'm not particulary shocked about the ending, such ending was expected. But I can't help but feel sad for Watanuki.
-SPOILERS AHEAD (highlight to read)-
It is said that 100+ years passed since he inherited the store, and the great-grandson of Doumeki Shizuka is shown. Apperently the Doumekis always stook with him, so he wasn't truly alone, but I can't help but feel as if after Shizuka died Watanuki was really alone. Because the other Doumekis don't share the same bounds with Watanuki. And even Kohane and Himawari came to pass, since they wouldn't really live another 100 years would they?
The ending apart from this was kind of...neutral. I mean, he got to see Yuuko in a dream, but she only gave him an enigmatic message that I understood as it being time for Watanuki to let go and be free, though that's not really what he wants, and even Doumeki III (Lol yeah. whatever) understands he musn't use the egg as long as Watanuki doesn't accept that Yuuko's gone forever, or something of the sort.

I'd really like it if they started another story with Watanuki and such, but they wouldn't be able to connect to Tsubasa Chronicle right? I mean, 100 YEARS passed, in the meanwhile, I'm sure that Sayoran and the others died as well - even if that's even more sad to admit.
-SPOILER END-

The rumors of it just being done "for now" do cheer me up, but it's still unbearably sad that another CLAMP manga has come to a no-closure ending.
I also read that it is possible that Kobato will come to an end soon? Though I haven't read it yet, I really hope that's a rumor that hasn't any foundation. Unless that would mean they'd finish other mangas that are paused so far. Because I can't see CLAMP just focusing on one single project, seing as even handling two long mangas such as xxxHOLIC and TRC they found time to do Kobato and come up with insane plot twists for the first two.
MAAAAAAAAN, this pisses me off!! I'm out!

Kimi ni Todoke (Reaching You) Rant Time

At first, everytime I'd cross paths with this anime I'd dismiss it as a sappy romantic shoujo that I wouldn't really be interested in, because people kept using it for videos and talking about it and all of that. And I gave up on even trying. But then people I know and follow made some videos to it, incidently with songs from artists I love, and I was like: awww what the hell! Let's see it!
Finally, my friend started watching and told me how fun it was. When asking opinions from other friends though some told me it was slow paced, others, too pure, there was even who told me it was sad.
I made some time appear from a bag and BAM I started on it. Due to some business I took a while to get into it, but I loved it from the first episode, and today I marathoned about 13 episodes, catching up with the week's episode.
First impressions on Sawako were...that she reminded me of Sunako from The Wallflower, but soon I realized that while Sunako is glad she's an outcast and like to be scary (well on the outside at least),  Sawako (or Sadako like she's "affectionatedly" called) is really an innocent and pure girl, to a surreal level actually. And it isn't just her, Kazehaya is too innocent (and cute) too. And Chizuru is just oblivious and dense. The most evil person might just be Yano Ayane.
But that is quite okay - this IS a light read/watch. And for the genre I think it's outstandingly well done, since it is one of those surreal love comedies in which the fluff and the funny parts are what matter.
The only character that I positively hate is Kurumi. First time I saw her, I knew imediatly she was a two-face girl. I can't stand that kind of personality and it really pissed me off that one episode about her. But I can live with it.
A charater that confuses me though, would be Kent. I was really lookin foward to his appearence as I'm a big fan of his voice actor - Miyano Mamoru. But now that I seen him...I think he's just manipulative as well, in a way that makes me sick from sweetness (don't ask). I can't really say if he's a "god" guy or not, all I know is whenever I hear his tone I keep hoping for Kida Masaomi from Durarara!! to appear. I have this feeling that Kent acts too forcefully and looks...fake, which is saying quite alot for an animated character.
I really like most of the side characters though, Ayane, Chizuru, Ryuu, Pin. They all have their perks that make them funny, and the side-couples really amuse me too.
About the main couple, aka the most important part of the anime, I actually like them. Usually I don't like the main couple for one reason or another, or they just don't mind much, but on this case I do like Kazehaya/Sawako. The fact that they're both so clueless? Dense? Bashful? Well, the fact they are them makes it all seem natural. Even though there's a possessive and jealous side to Kazehaya, which I'm afraid might annoy me soon (I haaate possessive people), so far so good though, since he's being possessive in the right amount. I won't deny that it's frustrating how slow-paced the story is and how sometimes I feel like raging, but I still think it's just good how it is.
This is definitly something I don't want to end. I don't feel the need to read the manga either, since it's a good animation! I just wished the side-couples would happen NOW. Then I wouldn't be so frustrated (: .
And everybody kept saying this week's cliffhanger was "of doom". I've seen worse. But I can't wait for more!

I guess that was a good resume. Time to go to bed now.

CLAMP-[o]taku (I realized I post too much about them)

I'm desperately searching for the last chapter of xxxHOLIC, though I know I'll just cry when I read it!
Lately my liking for CLAMP returned, and I really just feel like I should marattone every manga and anime from them. Even though I just ranted about that yesterday too ^^;
Either way, on my search I found this comment that said something about how xxxHOLIC is more than a manga, but it's culture and knowledge, and you know, it really is. I'm the type to just read a manga because I like the story and the characters and I never really think about what the plot might bring into the person I already am. With holic I basically learnt almost everything I know about japanese folklore, and I learnt that "In this world, there's no such thing as coincidences, all there is is hitsuzen.", so to say that I always had the kind of belief that things happen because they are meant to happen, but that's a quote that really echoes through one's mind (and I can'te help but hear Yuuko's voice actor everytime I try to write or say that). Aaa~ah, now I really want to re-watch xxxHOLIC, it has such a mysterious feeling to it (even if perfect-bride-wife-Watanuki Kimihiro is such a klutz and overall comical character in the begining - meaning throughout the whole anime, not including the last ova: Rou).
Watanuki is probably the character that most grew through the whole Tsubasa/xxxHOLIC story, and you can really accompany his growth without even noticing at first. All I know is that I was really sad when the Rou arc came about, he seemed like a totally diferent character, though at this point you can pick up some comedy bits here and there. Not to mention that it broke my heart when he cried over Yuuko. I don't really relate much to him as a person, because bluntly, he's everything I'm not - he's a skilled wife person, while I'm just lazy - but it's definitly one of those characters I won't forget that easily.
(And I'm MAJORLY sad he didn't end up with Himawari as he had a crush on her, even though I think Kohane suits him best. It broke my heart to know that Himawari got married and her husband loves Watanuki's food, nandasorewa)

And now jumping into CLAMP's new manga - Gate 7! I just read the new chapter earlier today, and Chikahito is the new Watanuki! Except he isn't a perfect wife. The way he snaps really makes me think of the earlier xxxHOLIC chapters/episodes in which Watanuki would snap at Doumeki for every little thing. The plot for Gate 7 is as expected from CLAMP, and I can't wait to have more. Hana is an adorable little girl and I can tell there's gonna be some major bonding between her and Watanuki-2 Chikahito. Also: WHY IS THERE ANOTHER SAKURA CHARACTER IN THIS? Even though this time is a guy, isn't that a weird name for such a manly guy? And I like Tachibana too, he reminds me of Kanda from D.Gray-Man (though I did hate Kanda at the begining ^^;; ) . I read some interesting theories about Chikahito, and I really can see it happening in the future, him having some sort of ability that is.
There's not much too add still, but I do like the art, it's as fitting as ever.

Can I have a new manga with Fye now?
-Nessie
(I shall post about Kimi ni Todoke soon as I'm 3 eps away from season 2 <3)

Horibtsuba Gakuen Drama CD's

They're so funny! CLAMP are such genious making all the xxxHOLIC and Tsubasa Chronicle characters enroll into it. And I specially love how they pulled Fye's twin into it too (: (that was the part that made me most happy after all the crying I did when I read about Fye's past e_e) . I'm sad about one thing though: there's only 4 episodes? Or at least that's what I found translated anyway.

As far as I'm concerned however - PLEASE MAKE A MANGA/ANIME OUT OF IT. I'm missing all these characters now that both xxxHOLIC and TRC are over, as they're such good characters too! (note to self - read the rest of Holic). But, this IS CLAMP, so I'm sure Sayoran and Watanuki and friends will be making appearences somewhere, sometime. But a manga dedicated to them again would be for the best (of the fans).

Aaaaah, I need to re-read or re-watch Tsubasa, I don't know, all I know is that my Fye obcession is hitting me like a brick.

And to conclude it: Horitsuba Gakuen - Watanuki-abuse and Kurogane-abuse included.
So to say that Yuuko + Fye are the best combo ever :D
(I'm so biased GOOD GRIEF.)

I'm helpless

Two months into it and I decided to change server. As much as I loveeee wordpress - which I do - I find that blogger gives off a more confortable feeling, and the community doesn't seem as disconnected. Let's see how this goes.
Only thing I regret is not being able to save my old posts, though they weren't many or had any comments they filled the blog in some way. aha.
